About MicroSeal

MicroSeal of Victoria, a division of Greenway Carpet Cleaning Ltd, is a professional, full-service textile cleaning and sealing company exclusively licensed here on Southern Vancouver Island. Specializing in MicroSeal – a non toxic, non allergenic fabric protection formula for premium stain and sun fade protection.

Non Toxic – Non Allergenic – Sun Fade Resistant

MicroSeal provides fabric and fibre protection. This is key in prolonging the lifetime of your textiles and the most expensive textiles are benefitting from the application of this unique product. MicroSeal dramatically increases the life of all natural and synthetic fibres. MicroSeal Premium Fabric Protection has been used for over 30 years worldwide. Originally developed by researchers in London, England to imitate the natural protection of sheep’s wool, its unique formula requires a perfect balance of high grade ingredients along with a trained and practiced manufacturing process.

Recognized Worldwide As The Best

The MicroSeal secret formula was originally developed many years ago by researchers in London, England to imitate the natural protection of sheep’s wool. Just like Coca-Cola, a deliberate decision was made to keep the formula a trade secret rather than file a patent that could be partially copied or obtained upon its expiration. This unique formula requires a perfect blend and balance of high grade raw ingredients combined with a trained and practiced manufacturing process that would be nearly impossible to reverse engineer.

Environmentally Friendly

MicroSeal is a safe product for your family, home and environment. It has been recognized by the EPA as a safe carrier. The non-toxic and non-allergenic formula is safe for any home, but it is also biodegradable and environmentally friendly. MicroSeal is waterless, therefore cannot shrink or discolor surfaces. It actually helps strengthen fibres while remaining odorless and colorless and can be applied to soiled fabrics, as the formula will not lock in dirt.

Resists Wear and Abrasion

Treated fibres are up to 60% more resistant to wear and abrasion, as the soil must wear off the protection before causing wear on the fibres. Similarly, fibres would have to wear off the protective MicroSeal finish before they can wear on each other. This “wear resistance” promotes longer fabric life and less frequent replacement.

The MicroSeal formula can be used on virtually every type of porous material including wool, cotton, nylon, polyester blends, silk, natural suede, synthetic suede and even smooth finished leather. The MicroSeal formula is not effective on vinyl.

Resists Wear and Abrasion

With the protection provided by MicroSeal, soil remains on the fibre surface. This allows for easier, faster and more efficient cleaning thus reducing labor and cleaning costs. MicroSeal also prevents sun fading (by nearly 100% on many fabrics), mildew, static electricity, smoke density and flame spread.

Are the performance and safety of MicroSeal verified by independent laboratory testing?2020-08-10T21:58:33+00:00

Yes. The following laboratories have tested MicroSeal for performance and safety:

Boeing Aerospace in Seattle, Chatfield Applied Research Laboratories in London, Commercial Testing Co. in Georgia, Certified Testing Laboratories in Georgia, Centre D’ Aeronautique De Toulouse in France, Forensic Testing Laboratories in Georgia, U.S. Testing Co. in California and TRI/Environmental Inc. in Texas

Can MicroSeal be applied to heirloom fabrics and fibres?2020-08-10T21:58:37+00:00

Yes. MicroSeal can be applied to all of your prized heirloom fabrics and fibres. This is because MicroSeal does not “seal in” stains or dirt. Application of MicroSeal will only extend the lifespan, benefit cleaning and prevent future staining of all of your heirloom fabrics and fibres.

Will MicroSeal change the way my fabric or fibre smells, feels, or looks?2020-08-10T21:58:42+00:00

No. After MicroSeal dries and cures there is no odor, and even vibrantly-colored silks look and feel exactly the way they did before MicroSeal application.

How does MicroSeal work?2020-08-10T21:58:47+00:00

Instead of coating the surface of a fabric or fiber, like all other stain protectants, MicroSeal actually penetrates to protect the fabric or fibre from within. In fact, MicroSeal was engineered to mimic the natural protection that wool possesses before it is sheered from the animal. And MicroSeal works in much the same way. It is difficult to imagine something like wine permanently staining an animal’s coat. This is because the fur is protected from within by oils. MicroSeal actually offers these same properties to virtually all fabrics and fibres. And because MicroSeal does not coat the surface of the fabric or fibre, it cannot be washed away by regular cleanings.

What protection does MicroSeal offer for my fabrics and fibres?2020-08-10T21:58:51+00:00

MicroSeal permanently prevents staining, strengthens fibres and fabrics to preserve their structural integrity and prevent wear, protects from ultraviolet rays to prevent sun fading, and even reduces flammability of fabrics and fibres.

Is MicroSeal safe for my home?2020-08-10T21:58:55+00:00

Yes. MicroSeal is EPA-rated safe, non-toxic and non-allergenic. In fact, MicroSeal has even earned the EPA’s coveted Design for the Environment label, which according to the EPA, “helps consumers identify products that perform well, that are cost-effective and are safer for the environment.” And if that isn’t enough MicroSeal is also California VOC compliant, which means MicroSeal adheres to the nation’s most stringent safety standards.

“Greenway micro-sealed our furniture in 2013. We have a navy velvet couch that sat in direct sunlight for 8 years and did not fade. it is now in different direct sunlight and is still not fading. This is fantastic!”
J. Zimmerman, Victoria, BC

“Our experience with Greenway has been outstanding. Our carpets and sofa and chairs which have been cleaned have ended up looking like brand new. As well, their product, Microseal, which is not just like Scotchguard, but which actually penetrates the material of the sofa or carpet, means that even bad greasy stains or wine stains, come out like a dream. Rob and Lori and team have provided us with exemplary service. I can recommend them wholeheartedly.”

“When we purchased new wall to wall beige wool carpeting for our bedroom six months ago,, we decided to protect it with MicroSeal. We have a dog that sleeps in the bedroom and in the middle of the night she vomited in a very visible area of the rug, and it was a mess. The stain required professional treatment and is now basically invisible, thanks to the MicroSeal protection. I am THRILLED, and so happy we decided to go this extra step in protecting our rug. I have also just had my new sofas protected with MicroSeal and am recommending the product highly to friends.”

“MicroSeal was applied to my white couch and chair. Four months later I splashed red wine on the couch and could not remove it with my own efforts and products at hand. I was certain I had ruined the furniture but the stains were completely removed by Greenway Carpet Cleaning. Just amazing, not a trace. I am extremely pleased with the customer service.”
B. Glazier, Victoria, BC

The Science

MicroSeal was specifically and expressly designed in England many years ago to replenish the natural protective agent that a sheep produces for its own coat. In addition to wear and stain protection, MicroSeal provides substantial sun fade resistance for the wool.

Without MicroSeal soil is naturally absorbed into the center of the wool fibre, hiding the dirt from the naked eye. Often consumers don’t realize their rug is dirty because they can’t see it. Unlike a typical fabric protector that only “coats” the fibre and then breaks up easily, MicroSeal penetrates the wool fibre to its inner cortex and protects it from the inside out. Not only from stains and wear, but also from sun fade damage.

The Bead Test Comparison

A simple bead test of a coater solution (fluorochems or PTFE Resin) vs. MicroSeal (a penetrator) will sometimes result in the “apparent superiority of the coater.” This is because the coater will cover more of the space between the fibres while MicroSeal will penetrate and seal the individual fibres. Further testing simulating wear (manipulating the fabric, rubbing it, cleaning it, etc.) will result in the coater quickly breaking up and permanent stains on the fibres occurring thereafter. Even ordinary dirt can be difficult to vacuum because the broken coater material “hangs on” to the dirt.

The MicroSeal will not break up, wear off, or clean off and will continue to protect the fibres from stains and sun fading for many years.
